Its Halloween time and now you’re considering a costume of Batman and Robin. These two are also known as The Dynamic Duo or the Caped Crusaders. Robin is also known as the Boy Wonder too. Robin made his appearance in comic books that were published by DC Comics. Robin was originally created by Bill Finger, Bob Kane and Jerry Robinson as Batman’s sidekick.
The original Robin made a cameo as Dick Grayson in the comic Detective Comics number 38 in April of 1940. Robin was created to attract a younger demographic in hopes to get them to begin reading the comic books.
After they brought Robin into the Batman comic book, people were raving over the boy wonder. The sales of Batman comic books doubled.
Robin made his original cameo with Batman in Star Spangled Comics number 65-130. The years were 1947-1952.
Dick Grayson made appearances in comic books that were related to Batman and other DC Comics from the year 1940 through the 1980’s. Dick Grayson was eventually recreated as the super hero Nightwing.
In 1983, after retiring Dick Grayson as the boy wonder, a newer character made his cameo in Batman #357. Robin was known as Jason Todd and made him tougher and meaner. Robin made appearances in Batman related comic books up until the year 1988, where Robin was laid to rest due to Robin being killed by the Joker in 1989’s comic Death in the Family.
The premiere Robin was a limited edition that was published in 1991 that then featured the third Robin character Tim Drake. Tim was training to become Batman’s partner. The monthly comic book Robin then continued to be a series of comics that began in 1993 and finally ended in 2009.
After DC Comics retired Tim Drake, they began the storyline for the character Stephanie Brown, who was also known as The Spoiler. This was the 4th creation of Robin. Now Robin was a woman. In 2004, Stephanie Brown was killed by the villain Black Mask in the comic Batman: War Games.
Tim Drake came back and became Batman’s Robin once again. Can the story of the Boy Wonder get any more complicated? Yes it can!
In the final comic of Batman, Bruce Wayne’s son, named Damian becomes Robin after Damian saves Tim from dying and Grayson becomes the new Batman.
The series ends with Tim Drake becoming the Red Robin.
Now that you got that straight, you can confuse your friends at the Halloween party by throwing these tidbits at them when they tell you what a great costume you have.
Even though Batman and Robin are super heroes, they actually have no super powers. Everything that Batman and Robin use are devices that help them save the day.
If you’re looking for a female Robin costume, there is a version of Robin that features a green mini skirt and also green long sleeves, with a yellow belt and green gloves. Let’s not forget the mask to cover your identity and the letter R on the chest. The boots can be either green, red, or black.
As for the Batman costume, you can get the newest Dark Knight Batman costume, or go for the zany Batman costume that Adam West use to wear in the Batman TV series. The TV series was a bizarre one and wasn’t meant to be taken seriously. I remember watching this show as a child and thinking that Batman was kind of funny because of his slow, sloppy kicks and the way Batman and Robin climbed walls.
